5-page update, go back to Chapter 16 - 19 to read the whole update!
I decided to upload this whole part together because of the fighting...didn't want to break that over several weeks, that would be a bummer! ...Even though this update is still kind of a bummer. BUT I ALSO wanted to upload many pages together to say thank you for reading and leaving me comments to read! Your support helps me to want to continue the comic each week, so thank you! :)
Anyway, the rest of the chapter will be uploaded in bulk like this, too. Hope you enjoy!
Maaan his father is choleric (is that the right word?). For a second I thought he was less worse than he seemed, but I guess he isnt. But at least Louis somehow fights back instead of being still and letting it go. Although his decision to not mention his boyfriend might be a bummer but tbh for me it also felt like I had some kind of power, since I decide whos trustworthy and whos not to know about my relationship.
Anyways! I love the comic, I remembered it (after I've seen a few pages years ago) and decided to give it a try again. Its well-written and so real somehow. Thx for giving us readers to read this and on top of it for free nonetheless!
@dundundu: His dad can definitely have a temper, that's for sure. And sorry! Louis is still figuring out his sexuality, he's just not ready to come out to his dad...it was a big deal for him to just tell him that he was going with Daniel to the dance!
Thank you for giving it another try! :)I'm glad you liked it. Hope you look forward to what's to come!
He just blew up and then pussed out.
@Truefan108: Well, based off of Louis's father's irrational behavior, I'd imagine he'd even hit his son during his drunk bouts. Sometimes it's best to keep quiet unless you're far away enough where you're not under threat. I hope Louis can some day amend their relationship, but I do have my doubts.
@Evilsnail11: i do too. It'll be a good day
I do not always take time to leave a comment, but I look at all the updates with joy and interest. I still find the story very interesting, I love Louis and Daniel and their relationship. I hope Louis' relation to his father is going to improve, but this scene show how and why it is complicated. The father should not talk like this I think, but it is perceptible there is a problem of communication here.
Thank you for uploading the whole scene, it is stronger in emotion this way !
@Follinette: Thanks for reading and for leaving a comment, Follinette! Yes, Louis and his dad's relationship is very complicated. Neither of them are good at communicating and they both escalate each other's emotions :(
God damn it do I adore this comic. I just ughhh even on my worse days this conic is such a joy
@Razain666: Thank you for reading!! :)
His dad is a weirdo
Oh man, I feel him right now. Everyone who has a bad relationship with their parent always braves up for a split second before going back to lying again. Some call it cowardly, but it keeps you alive, you know? And especially since his father was a drunk, I'd imagine he even hit Louis. Lying is sometimes the best option, sadly, especially with an emotionally unstable person.
@Evilsnail11: Yeah, he's just not in a position to really confirm that he is in a relationship...doesn't want his dad to continue grilling/lecturing him and he's not ready to come out. Though he didn't FULLY lie...he is going to the dance with Daniel and Mia will be going with them too!
Wanted to also clarify that while his dad is quick to get angry, he's never hit Louis.
@G.H.S.T: Okay, just making sure! You never know what goes down behind closed doors, you know? Either way, I do feel like Louis made the right call as for now, as that would probably fuel the argument even more. And yeah, he was quite ballsy to say the partial truth.
God I'm in pain, this is so realistic and sad and beautifully done. It viscerally reminds me of when I was a teenager and totally pleasant moments with my mom would turn into screaming matches. (I was also bi and in the closet and terrified of talking about my feelings about girls, so I relate Very Hard to Louis.)
This chapter has been one of the most honest and realistic depictions I've ever seen of a teenage boy, as well as the relationship between abusive parents and their kids. I really appreciate all the work you put into this comic from storytelling to art, ghost!!
eugh, the way the dad looks in the first panel
